unMade in China exhibition opens in AprilMin | Day is proud to announced that our unbuilt Faux Gardens project in China has been selected for the exhibition unMade in China * Architecture Undone in the PRC.
"30 years of unprecedented growth have transformed China's built environment and given China a reputation as a land of opportunity for architects today. While much attention - and some criticism - has been focused on major completed works, little is known of those projects that disappear, fizzle out, or sit abandoned. This exhibition is the celebration of those almost-spectacular, missing Chinese projects from the last decade. Projects that could have been transformative, and thereby represent a path not taken. A documentation of experiences and emotions that came with choosing such a path."
The exhibition will be on view in Shanghai from April 19 - May 19, 2012 and will travel to other locations with dates to be announced.

Min | Day design lab + lecture at Bemis CenterE.B. and Jeff led a public charrette called the small o: mircourbanism in omaha on May 19, 2011 from 4 - 6pm at the Bemis Center in Omaha. The event was part of a Bemis Gardens exhibition / design lab. While the discourse of urbanism is usually written at the macro scale (focussing on large-scale infrastructure, architectural ensembles, district to district relationships and the aggregate flows of commerce), much of the social life of the city forms itself around the micro-scale spaces between things. The charrette focussed on how the Bemis Center's outdoor spaces fit into, and could exert influence on, a loose network of urban landscapes in downtown Omaha and environs.
Immediately following the the even E.B. and Jeff presented the lecture Recent Abductions, sponsored by AIA Omaha and held at the Bemis Center. An edited video of the lecture is available through AIA Omaha.
